CITB Site Safety Plus certificate, valid for five years
The Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme, known as SSSTS, is the CITB course that principal contractors expect a construction supervisor or team leader to hold. Over two days it gives supervisors, foremen, gangers and first-line managers a clear understanding of the legal duties that come with a supervisory role, and the practical knowledge to carry them out. It covers the supervisor's responsibilities for health, safety and welfare, risk assessments and method statements, the supervision and monitoring of site activities, communicating safety through toolbox talks, and the part the supervisor plays in keeping a site safe. Successful delegates receive a CITB Site Safety Plus certificate, valid for five years, which is renewed by taking the one-day SSSTS Refresher before it expires. SSSTS is the supervisor-level course; the management-level course is the five-day SMSTS. KeyOstas delivers SSSTS in-company or as a scheduled course, in the classroom or as live online instructor-led training.
