Eight questions clients ask us most before booking, answered straight.
What is the difference between NEBOSH and IOSH?
NEBOSH and IOSH are two separate awarding bodies. NEBOSH provides higher-level qualifications mainly aimed at people pursuing a career in health and safety, including the NEBOSH National General Certificate (Level 3, 10 days) and the NEBOSH Diploma (Level 6). IOSH provides shorter, more practical training for managers and employees in non-specialist roles, including IOSH Managing Safely (3 days) and IOSH Working Safely (1 day). Most safety professionals start with NEBOSH; most managers start with IOSH.
What is the difference between CCNSG and SPA passports?
Both are UK industrial site safety passports, but they cover different sectors. CCNSG (Client Contractor National Safety Group) is the standard passport for engineering construction sites, typically required by major construction, energy, and infrastructure clients. SPA (Safety Pass Alliance) is a family of sector-specific passports covering Construction, Food & Drink, Petrol Retail, Quarry, and Supervisor roles. If a client tells you which passport they require, book that one. If you are not sure, CCNSG is the most widely accepted across UK industry.
Where in the UK does KeyOstas run public courses?
Our public courses run at our Herefordshire head office (Southam, Warwickshire) and at partner training venues across the UK, including Birmingham, Manchester, London, and Glasgow. Virtual classroom courses are delivered live online and are bookable from anywhere in the UK. Use the Location filter on the course calendar to see which cities have current dates scheduled.
What is the difference between in-person classroom and virtual classroom delivery?
In-person classroom courses run at a physical training venue with the trainer and delegates in the same room, best for hands-on courses (CCNSG, SPA passports) and for delegates who learn better face-to-face. Virtual classroom courses run live on Zoom or Microsoft Teams with the trainer delivering in real time, same trainer, same content, same accreditation, but you join from your office or home. Virtual is well-suited to NEBOSH and IOSH courses; passport courses are classroom only.
How quickly can I book onto a public NEBOSH or IOSH course?
You can book onto any public course showing live availability immediately, no quote required. Booking is online via our checkout, and you will receive joining instructions, course materials, and pre-reading within one working day. The earliest start date depends on what is scheduled, most months have multiple NEBOSH and IOSH dates available within 4–8 weeks. Use the Date range filter on the calendar to see what is available.
Are KeyOstas pass rates above the national average?
Yes. KeyOstas has been a NEBOSH Gold Learning Partner operating since 1984, provider 009, one of the lowest partner numbers in the UK. Gold tier requires us to maintain pass rates and learner satisfaction above national averages, audited annually by NEBOSH. Most national providers are Silver or Bronze tier; Gold is the highest level NEBOSH awards.
What is included in the course price?
The price covers everything you need to complete the course: trainer fees, full course materials, awarding-body registration, exam fees and marking (where applicable), certification on completion, and post-course support if you need to retake an assessment. Lunch and refreshments are included on classroom courses. Prices are shown excluding VAT, VAT is added at checkout.
Can my employer pay for my course directly, or do I need to pay personally?
Online bookings are paid by card (CardSave or Takepayments) or via Klarna at checkout. If your employer needs to be invoiced directly with 30-day payment terms, contact us on +44 (0) 3300 569534 or email before booking and we will arrange a direct invoice and reserve the seats. We respond the same working day.
