Quick answer

What is the SPA Food & Drink Passport?

The SPA Food & Drink passport is the Safety Pass Alliance sector course for food and drink manufacturing. Taken alongside the one-day SPA Core Day, it makes up a full safety passport covering food protection, environmental protection and health and safety on food and drink sites. The passport is valid for three years.

Run by the Safety Pass Alliance (SPA)
The food & drink sector day of the SPA passport
Core Day + sector day completes the full passport
Passport valid three years, then renewed

Food and drink sites carry a distinctive mix of risks — hygiene and contamination, machinery, slips, hygiene chemicals and environmental controls. The Food & Drink passport gives workers and contractors a sector-specific safety baseline that food and drink manufacturers recognise and often require for site access. KeyOstas delivers it as an SPA-approved training provider, in public classrooms and in-company.

Is it right for you

Is the SPA Food & Drink Passport right for you?

This is the food and drink sector passport. If you work in another industry, a different SPA passport applies.

Right for you if…

You work on, or need access to, food and drink manufacturing sites
You are a contractor whose clients ask for an SPA Food & Drink passport
Your employer wants the workforce on a recognised food-sector safety baseline
You need both the Core Day and the food & drink sector day for a full passport
You want a passport food and drink manufacturers recognise across the UK

A different course fits better if…

Your passport is current and nearing expiry — take the SPA Food & Drink Renewal
You work on petrol forecourts or quarry sites — take the relevant SPA sector passport
You only need the foundation day — the SPA Core Day on its own may be enough
