Quick answer

What is the SPA Petrol Passport?

The SPA Petrol passport is the Safety Pass Alliance sector course for people working on petrol filling stations. Taken alongside the one-day SPA Core Day, it makes up a full safety passport covering the hazards of a forecourt — flammable atmospheres, fuel deliveries and ignition sources — and how to control work safely. The passport is valid for three years.

Core Day + sector day completes the full passport
Passport valid three years, then renewed

Petrol forecourts are a hazardous environment — flammable vapours, hazardous zones under DSEAR, live fuelling and deliveries. Contractors working on forecourts are routinely asked to hold an SPA Petrol passport before site access. The course gives that recognised, sector-specific safety baseline. KeyOstas delivers it as an SPA-approved training provider, in public classrooms and in-company.

Is it right for you

Is the SPA Petrol Passport right for you?

This is the petrol-retail sector passport. If you work in another industry, a different SPA passport applies.

Right for you if…

You are a contractor working on, or needing access to, petrol filling stations
Your clients or principal contractors ask for an SPA Petrol passport for forecourt access
You work near fuel deliveries, hazardous zones or live fuelling operations
You need both the Core Day and the petrol sector day for a full passport
Your employer wants the workforce on a recognised forecourt-safety baseline

A different course fits better if…

Your passport is current and nearing expiry — take the SPA Petrol Passport Renewal
You work on food & drink or quarry sites — take the relevant SPA sector passport
You only need the foundation day — the SPA Core Day on its own may be enough
After the course
