The CITB Site Safety Plus course for those who manage construction sites
Five days, around 37.5 hours of guided learning
Covers health and safety law, CDM 2015, risk assessment and site set-up
CITB Site Safety Plus certificate, valid for five years
The Site Management Safety Training Scheme, almost always called SMSTS, is the CITB course that principal contractors and clients expect a construction site manager to hold. Over five days it builds a thorough, working understanding of the health, safety, welfare and environmental duties that come with running a site. It covers the legal background and health and safety law, the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 and the manager's duties under them, risk assessments and method statements, site set-up and the control of common hazards, occupational health and environmental issues. The course is taught through presentations, case studies, group discussions and scenario-based exercises, and it ends with a formal assessment. Successful delegates receive a CITB Site Safety Plus certificate, valid for five years, which is renewed by taking the two-day SMSTS Refresher before it expires. KeyOstas delivers the course in-company or as a scheduled course, in the classroom or as live online instructor-led training.
