Quick answer

What is DSE assessor training?

DSE assessor training develops the knowledge and practical skills to carry out display screen equipment workstation assessments. KeyOstas delivers it as a one-day in-company course, and delegates leave able to assess workstations and recommend practical ergonomic improvements.

Trains staff to carry out DSE workstation assessments
Grounded in the Display Screen Equipment Regulations and ergonomics
Includes developing and using a practical assessment protocol
Certificate of attendance for every delegate
The Health and Safety (Display Screen Equipment) Regulations 1992 require employers to assess the workstation of every DSE user and to reduce the risks they find. To do that, you need competent assessors. This course develops those assessors: it grounds them in the relevant law and in the ergonomics of working at a screen, then builds the practical skill of assessing a workstation, spotting the risk factors and recommending solutions that genuinely help.

Is it right for you

Is this course right for your team?

It is for the people who will carry out workstation assessments for others.

Right for you if…

You need staff who can assess DSE workstations across your organisation
You want assessments done in-house rather than bought in each time
You have office, hybrid or home-based staff whose workstations need assessing
You want assessors grounded in ergonomics, not just a checklist
You are a manager, health & safety or HR team member taking on this role

A different course fits better if…

Your staff just need to set up their own workstation: see DSE Awareness
You need broad workplace risk-assessment training: see Risk Assessment training
You want a regulated, accredited qualification: this is a certificate of attendance

FAQ

DSE assessor training: frequently asked questions

What is a DSE assessor?
A DSE assessor is someone trained to carry out display screen equipment workstation assessments: checking a workstation against the regulations, spotting risk factors and recommending improvements.
How long is the course?
One day, delivered in-company at your premises.
Who should attend?
Managers, health & safety staff, HR team members and anyone who will carry out DSE workstation assessments for others.
Is DSE assessment a legal requirement?
Yes. The Health and Safety (Display Screen Equipment) Regulations 1992 require employers to assess the workstation of every DSE user and to reduce the risks identified.
Does it cover home and hybrid workers?
Yes. The assessment principles apply to home and hybrid workstations as well as the office, and the course covers assessing them.
What is the difference between this and DSE Awareness?
DSE Awareness is a half-day course for the screen users themselves. The assessor course is a one-day course for the people who will assess other people's workstations.
Will we be able to assess workstations afterwards?
Yes. The course is practical and builds an assessment protocol, so delegates leave able to carry out and record workstation assessments.
Is this an accredited qualification?
