Our virtual courses are a great way to save commuting time and work around your busy schedule. However, we understand that learning from home can present different challenges, such as distractions, technical issues, and the need for self-motivation.

Here are our top 5 ways to make the most out of your virtual course:

1. Limit distractions

Create a dedicated study space and try to limit distractions around you as much as possible, including noise, other people, access to your phone or the TV, or anything else that may pose as a disturbance. Silence notifications and ensure you have a quiet place to learn.

2. Reduce the risk of technical issues

Make sure your laptop or PC is updated and has a strong Wi-Fi connection. Join the Teams meeting in good time to ensure you can sort out any technical issues before the start of the session. Good computer literacy is also important.

3. Use breaks properly

When you’re working from home, it’s easy to just sit and scroll on your phone during breaks, but this won’t help you in the long run. Get up, do some stretches, chat to a family member or walk around the area, and ensure you’re drinking water regularly. Having some healthy snacks to hand will also help curb any sugar cravings. Regular movement, proper hydration, and good nutrition are key to keeping focused and energised.

4. Participate and engage in classes

Ensure you are actively listening by participating during discussions and keeping your camera on during virtual courses. This way, you will be able to retain the information better, feel more focused and motivated, and share your valuable insights with others.

5. Take notes and ask questions

Taking notes during the sessions will be beneficial to help you focus and retain important information, and asking questions allows you to smooth over any gaps in your knowledge. Plus, you never know who else might have the same question as you but may not feel confident enough to voice it!

Put these skills to the test and join us for one of our upcoming virtual health and safety courses today!
