Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS)

An interactive Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) course delivered by means of case studies, classroom discussion, group work and individual/group presentations

Delegates will be continuously assessed and are required to complete a multiple-choice test

The 5 day Site Management Safety Training Scheme course aims to help site managers, agents and supervisors to:

  • manage health and safety on site in accordance with current legal provisions, and within the context of their management or supervisory role
  • develop an understanding of responsibilities and accountability for site health, safety and welfare. Recognise a safe site is efficient, economical and productive

At the end of the period of training, delegates will be aware of, and able to:

  • implement all health, safety, welfare and environmental legislation which affects them during their daily work
  • implement new guidance and industry best practice. State their duties and responsibilities with regards to health, safety, welfare and the environment

The CITB is the Industry Training Board for the construction industry and a partner in Construction Skills, the Sector Skills Council. It is their job to help the construction industry to attract talent and to support skills development to build a better Britain

Sponsored by the UK Department for Education, the CITB are accountable to government ministers, and ultimately to the UK Parliament

Upon successfully completing the course delegates will be awarded a CITB Site Safety Plus certificate

The Site Management Safety Training Scheme qualification can be renewed every five years by attending the SMSTS Refresher course
