CITB Training

KeyOstas is a CITB Training provider. The CITB is the industry training board for the construction sector in England, Scotland and Wales. It’s role is to help the construction industry attract talent and to support skills development to build a better Britain

CITB are a public body in charge of their own budget and activities. Sponsored by the Department for Education, the CITB are also accountable to government ministers and ultimately to Parliament

CITB are dedicated to ensuring the UK construction workforce has the right skills for now and the future based on our three strategic priorities – Careers, Standards and Qualifications, and Training and Development. They are the Industry Training Board and a partner in the Sector Skills Council for the construction industry in England, Scotland and Wales

The CITB mission is to attract and support the development of people to construct a better Britain

The CITB vision is for British construction to have a recognised, world-class, innovative approach to developing its workforce

A CITB training provider is an organisation which provides construction training courses and qualifications to a defined and industry-agreed training standard

An ATO could be, for example, a commercial training provider, a construction employer’s in-house training department, or an educational establishment

The CITB are working for industry wherever they see opportunities to engage decision-makers, influence policy, and build dynamic partnerships across government, business and communities. Their nationwide aims are to:

  • help government recognise industry needs for skills development
  • work with local enterprise partnerships, regional bodies and national administrations to support training priorities
  • strengthen relationships with employer groups, public sector clients and trade federations
  • improve industry representation on CITB committees
  • attract more people into construction and more employers to invest in training
  • campaign, persuade and influence for the benefit of industry
